New Sasquatch Campaign Tells the Story of the Widmer Brothers
In time for the summer beer season, Portland, Oregon based craft brewer Widmer Brothers Brewing launches a new multi-media campaign that tells the unique and relatable story of brothers Kurt and Rob Widmer and their passion for brewing great beer. The campaign breaks on the heels of a gold medal win at the World beer cup and an expansion of the brewery.
Television spots and print ads tell a story that many dream of but few get to experience: quitting your day job to do what you're most passionate about.
Utilizing archival video footage and photography, the campaign harkens back to the early days when brothers Kurt and Rob Widmer quit their mundane jobs to pursue their love of great beer; turning their home brewing experience into a full-time vocation. The campaign features key moments along the Widmer Brothers’ timeline, such as their introduction of the American-style Hefeweizen, Widmer’s flagship beer.
According to Tim McFall, Vice President of Marketing, "As we approach our 25th anniversary next year, it seemed appropriate to tell Rob and Kurt's story as a means of conveying the brand's authenticity and the brothers' love of brewing beer that people like drinking as much as they do."
Widmer's advertising agency, Sasquatch, of Portland, Oregon, partnered with Los Angeles based entertainment and motion design boutique PIC to create the television spots.
Two 30-second television spots will air all summer long in major West Coast and Southwest markets on networks including Comedy Central, ESPN, ESPN2, FX, Discovery, History Channel, MSNBC and others.
Full-page print ads appear in local and regional lifestyle, entertainment, music and alternative news weekly publications.
Widmer will also be partnering with relevant cultural websites to tell the brothers' story through customized promotions and online content.
